Unexpectedly, the Chinese social network Tiktok decided to most rigorously react on the way of circumventing established restrictions for Russian users.
Previously, accounts from Russia were allowed only to view other video, without downloading new rollers or streams. The network explained by these new laws on the dissemination of information adopted in the Russian Federation in recent weeks, as well as the desire to protect its employees and authors.
Thille thinking, some users decided to bypass the ban and continue to download content through VPN services. And Tiktok decided to take an extremely tight position on this issue.
Large bloggers network representatives already advise not to risk millions of subscribers, hinting that the account lock for using VPN is quite a real threat.
Many and so stopped working in the network, fearing to lose the accumulated database of fans and calculating that with time the restrictions will be removed.
Some hope that this will happen in April 2022, but so far no signs for such developments are observed. Although it should be noted that foreign correspondent points that stopped working in Russia about a month ago began to open their bureaus. Their temporarily closure then explained the same reason as Tiktok their limitation.
The most strongly restriction of Tiktok was reflected on the bloggers of this platform from Russia. They instantly lost 70-80% of advertising revenues from this platform. If you add to this shutdown of monetization for Russian activity from YouTube, then the earnings of Russian channels, monetizing on social networks, decreased by 60-90%.
Some bloggers continue to successfully use advertising integrations on YouTube, negotiating directly with the company to mention its products. However, the number of advertisers decreased markedly since the end of February, although Russian companies are gradually replaced, but with much more limited budgets.
Last week, Meta was recognized as an extremist organization by the Russian court, and its Instagram and Facebook services are prohibited in the country. However, they not only did not tightened measures against VPN, but, on the contrary, even weakened. Instagram ceased to block accounts for logging and loading content via VPN.
At the same time, YouTube did not refuse such measures. Although watching videos is thus not prohibited, the loading of the rollers via VPN can lead to a blocking of the account on the platform.
As for Tiktok, it is better to beat your channels and refrain from publications for a while not to risk account loss due to the VPN service.
Telegram and Rutube Limited foreign services cannot be replaced, but the creators of short rollers and stories can find their niche in vk, where competition is higher, the struggle for coverage and the specific audience habits, which we will talk later in a separate material.
