Russia returns the heavy atomic missile cruiser Admiral Nakhimov - the largest warship in the world, not counting aircraft carriers intended to combat them. After the modernization of the TARKR, it will be equipped with the most modern missile weapons. What exactly, read in our article.

In the 40s of the last century, two main strategic doctrines were finally formed. The sea powers rely on floating air base (aircraft carriers and escort ships, the so -called aircraft carrier groups), capable of controlling the shore from the sea. Ground powers - for artillery, submarines and ground or ship missile systems that can neutralize aircraft carriers.

Within the framework of this doctrine, which involves a system of checks and counterweights, projects 1144 and 1144.2M Orlan were designed and built in the Soviet Union. The most famous of them is the heavy atomic cruiser, the flagship of the Northern Fleet "Peter the Great".

If “Peter the Great” is now in the ranks, Admiral Nakhimov has a more difficult fate. A powerful Tarkr, passing through the North Atlantic classification as a battleship, has been standing in the Dock at Sevmash for 20 years, undergoing modernization. However, it is likely that the process of rearmament of Admiral Nakhimov will significantly accelerate in the light of the incident with the detonation of ammunition on the Moscow cruiser in the Black Sea. According to the deputy general director of the OSK for military shipbuilding Vladimir Korolev, Nakhimov’s running tests were scheduled for 2023.

At the time of commissioning in the late 1980s, Admiral Nakhimov already had a rather powerful arsenal and was a truly formidable ship. On board there were anti-ship grades (winged missile systems P-700), S-300 air defense systems. The modernized Admiral Nakhimov will be equipped with the latest Russian military -industrial complex.

In addition to the latest electronic filling, the cruiser will receive the most modern hypersonic cruise missile (“Zircon”), marine modification of the S-400 air defense system, a new generation of anti-ship missiles P-800 (coded name “Onyx”) and high-precision “calibers”. And after Nakhimov, a similar modernization awaits the Tarkr "Peter the Great".
