AvtoVAZ plans to install a new engine with a volume of 1.6 liters and an 8-valve engine VAZ-11182 on Lada Vesta. The engine will be able to develop a power of 90 horsepower. The same indicators have the base engine Volkswagen Polo and Skoda Rapid. Last year, this engine was successfully tested on Lada Largus and Lada Granta.
The characteristics of the engine are delighted, despite its modest power. It is distinguished by good thrust at low speeds characteristic of diesel engines. AvtoVAZ was able to significantly facilitate the power unit by reducing the number of counterweights on the crankshaft from 8 to 4. Despite all the changes, the cylinder block remained cast -iron.
The motor has a new camshaft, now it is more light than 0.5 kg. This was achieved by reducing the thickness of the rod (from 8 mm to 5 mm) and the width of the working surface of the cams. Now it is 11 mm. The design of the valves and the crankcase ventilation system were also undergoing changes. This will reduce the consumption of motor oil.
In addition, the car became cheaper due to a new engine for 4900 rubles for 20K km of run. AvtoVAZ will save 2K rubles to reduce expenses for gasoline, 2900 rubles on valve adjustment procedures.
New cars will appear on sale in September this year.
