Today we will talk about new measures that were adopted by the European Union, which enable European companies to buy Russian gas without violating sanctions.
We will try to figure out what the catch is here, what has changed globally, and how it all will affect the ruble and the shares of Gazprom.
The EU allowed to open foreign exchange accounts in Gazprombank - this is a very important promotion. But this does not fully meet the requirements of Russia, since, according to Russia's requirements, European companies should open a second account in rubles, which will convert the currency received. And from this account payment will already be made.
But the EU only allowed to transfer dollars to the dollar account in Gazprombank. Most likely, regarding the second account in rubles, they will somehow agree in the future.
It seems to me that the EU will continue to buy gas as he did before. The risks of regarding the possible disconnection of European countries from Russian gas are slowly coming to naught.
And immediately after this decision, the cost of gas began to fall and fell from $ 1030 to $ 995. Probably, by the end of the month, gas will drop to $ 900.
There were opponents of this decision, Poland was disappointed that the EU was ready to pay for gas in rubles, despite the strong dependence of Poland on Russian gas.
In principle, Poland, like other EU countries, can buy Russian gas. That is, until we are talking about disconnection from Russian gas. In oil, of course, a separate story. She will be engaged in her somewhere in the 4th quarter of 2022.
But there are hardly any advancement with gas, since the dependence on Russian gas in some countries (especially in Germany) is very high, and it will take years to at least partially reduce it.
Naturally, this news positively affected the shares of Gazprom. And over the next 2 months, perhaps Gazprom’s shares can grow to 260-270 rubles.
Now investors still believe in high dividends from Gazprom. But while this issue is hanging in the air, since the companies want to hold money due to a crisis.
Of course, Gazprom may not pay dividends - this will lead to a fall in shares to about 200 rubles.
