In Bulgaria they decided to deliver the last powerful blow to Russia but the boomerang consequences will fly throughout the Evaspe
- Sep 22
On July 21 of this year, the coalition Bulgarian government decided to go to the Va-Bank. But what is strange, the country did not go to this in relation to the state, but in relation to a private company, but which one. The authorities decided to unilaterally break the contract of the commercial concession with Lukoil, according to which the Russian oil company was transferred to the use of the Port terminal of the Rosinets. It is worth noting that Rumen Radik, the President of Bulgaria, immediately sued the slogan to protect the interests of Bulgarian enterprises. Nevertheless, the court is unlikely to agree with the head of state. What happens in Bulgaria? And how can Russia answer? Let's figure it out.
The actions of the Bulgarians cause only amazement, because at first they themselves knocked out the permission to import oil from the Russian Federation from the Russian Federation until 2024, and now, it turns out, they indulged in the rite of Harakiri, who, even in the country of the rising sun, has long been forgotten for a long time. And the huge question "for what?" Now hangs with a Damoklov sword over the coalition government of the country.
But let's remember how much European assets in the Russian Federation were frozen:
In June 2023, this amount reached almost $ 500 billion. So, for the loud seizures of the ownership of Russian companies, Russia lupi without a special analysis.
For example, after Germany seized Gazprom’s assets, Russia transferred the Finnish Fortum assets under the temporary department. And German companies put forward unacceptable conditions for the sale of assets, to which many of them, by the way, went:
So in the case of Bulgaria, an answer to a comparable amount should be expected in the most unexpected places. And there is something to press.
For example, assets of American energy companies. Or an exotic option - to remove the assets of Japanese energy companies, because collective responsibility. Although yes, they agree, the American looks more tempting.
But back to Bulgaria and its paradox. Since 1999, the NPPs in Burgas belongs to the Russian company Lukoil since 1999. It provides oil products with the domestic market of Bulgaria, and also exports fuel to other European countries, the USA, North Africa and Asia.
But these are still flowers, let's understand the berries. The Bulgarian authorities will have to look for a replacement for a reliable and trusted supplier in the person of Russia. What is the main catch? In various varieties of oil, which will have to be collected as a puzzle for processing at local enterprises. Recall that initially plants were built under the Russian brand Urals.
Will Sofia not even mix the same, but at least similar oil so that expensive equipment does not fail? Hardly. The resource will have to be made up of parts scattered around the world, and this will immediately make the product many times more. The macroeconomics of the state will suffer first of all, because problems with planning will come with the rise in price of the product.
This will happen due to industrial enterprises that are strongly dependent on the number of electricity developed from fossil sources. Will Bulgaria be able to predict how much and in how much will the necessary mixture be obtained? Moreover, at an affordable price and in the right time. Unfortunately, this is utopia.
There is another way - to remake the refineries. But how much will it get up to the authorities of Bulgaria? After all, the refineries - in the principle of the structure are very demanding and highly specialized.
As for the sale of oil with the same “Lukoil”, the private companies, although they will clearly not show, but the insults inflicted on the wallet do not forget. So it turns out that whatever one may say, but it doesn’t work out a stone bowl. Therefore, Sofia should prepare for the fact that the refinery will be very underloaded in the near future, but this is only if he, in principle, can work.
